The challenge window closed on June 28, 2026 at 11:50 PM IST. No further challenges are accepted. NTA is now reviewing all submitted objections before releasing the final answer key.

What Happens Next — Final Answer Key and Result

The Re-NEET 2026 Final Answer Key is expected to be released in July 2026 after the completion of the objection review process. Once released, the final answer key cannot be challenged further. (Shiksha)

NTA has introduced a parallel-processing mechanism for this cycle. NTA is running an expert review of objections at the same time as OMR scanning, rather than one after the other. The stated goal is to publish the final answer key and declare the result faster than the usual timeline allows. (Aakash)

Following the review of objections, the final answer key will be published, and the NEET 2026 Re-NEET result is expected to be announced in mid-July 2026, along with the scorecard, AIR rank, merit list, and counselling schedule. (PW)

How the Final Answer Key Differs From Provisional

When the final answer key releases, two types of changes may appear:

#### 1. Dropped Questions If NTA accepts an objection that the question itself is flawed, it gets dropped entirely. All candidates receive +4 marks for a dropped question regardless of what they answered.

#### 2. Changed Answers If a challenge proves a different answer is correct, the answer key is revised. Anyone who marked the newly accepted answer gets +4 instead of -1 — a potential swing of 5 marks per question.

Important: Your result will be calculated using the final answer key only — not the provisional one. If your provisional score was slightly off, the final key may change it.

Calculate Your Expected Score Right Now

Use this formula to estimate your score from the provisional answer key: \`\`\` Score = (Correct Answers × 4) − (Wrong Answers × 1) Maximum Score = 720 Unattempted = 0 marks \`\`\`

Quick score table:

| Correct | Wrong | Expected Score | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | 170 | 10 | 670 | | 160 | 15 | 625 | | 150 | 20 | 580 | | 140 | 20 | 540 | | 130 | 25 | 495 | | 120 | 25 | 455 |

Add +4 for any dropped questions in your paper code.

Expected Cutoff 2026 — Qualifying Marks

The qualifying cutoff is the minimum score to be eligible for counselling — not the score needed for a specific college.

| Category | Expected Qualifying Percentile | | :--- | :--- | | General (UR) | 50th percentile | | OBC / SC / ST | 40th percentile | | General PwD | 45th percentile |

Score vs college admission — rough guide:

| Score Range | Rough Indication | | :--- | :--- | | 650+ | Strong chance at top government MBBS colleges | | 580–650 | Good government college chances | | 500–580 | State quota or management quota | | 400–500 | Private medical colleges | | Below 400 | Consider BDS, AYUSH, or NEET 2027 |

These are estimates based on previous years. Actual cutoffs depend on this year's difficulty, total candidates, and seat availability across states.

What Happens After the Result — Counselling

Going by the timeline NTA has indicated, the Re-NEET UG 2026 result is expected in the second week of July 2026, after which the Medical Counselling Committee will open AIQ counselling, with state quota counselling following separately through respective state authorities. (Aakash)

Counselling process:

  • AIQ Counselling: Managed by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) at mcc.nic.in
  • State Quota Counselling: Managed separately by each state authority
  • Documents needed: Result scorecard, Class 10 and 12 certificates, category certificate, ID proof, passport photos

Start preparing your documents now so you are ready the moment counselling opens.

If Your Score Is Below Expectations — What To Do Now

Do not wait 2–3 months to make a decision. The students who improve significantly for NEET 2027 are the ones who restart within 2–3 weeks of results.

You now have approximately 10 months before NEET 2027. With the confirmed switch to CBT mode, early preparation gives you an even bigger advantage — you need to practice on a computer interface, not just paper.
